День посадки деревьев, праздник [ state holiday] штатов Небраска (22 апреля) и Юта (всегда в последнюю пятницу апреля). Неофициально отмечается (обычно в последнюю пятницу апреля) во всех штатах, кроме Аляски, в южных штатах - часто зимой. Впервые отмечался 10 апреля 1872 в Небраске по инициативе С. Мортона [Mortron, J. Sterling], позднее был перенесен на 22 апреля - день рождения Мортона. Цель праздника - не только пропагандировать древонасаждение и увеличить лесные массивы, но и украсить родной город.
